Rawa Jaggery Halwa

Rawa Jaggery  Halwa  is a  traditional sweet  dish recipe prepared in the state of Bihar or Jharkhand. This Rawa Jaggery Halwa is very easy to prepare with very easily available ingredients in the house always. Total time  –  15 minutes

Serves  – 6 to 7 people

Ingredients  :-

  • 1 cup Rawa (Semolina)  ( upma rawa or sooji )
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup  milk
  • 1 cup jaggery  powder
  • 1/2  cup  ghee
  • 2 tsp maida
  • 1/2  tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp raisins
  • 1 tsp  cashewnuts chopped
  • 1 tsp  almonds chopped

Method :-

Firstly mix milk and water in a vessel nicely and add in Rawa and mix nicely and rest the paste for 30 minutes.

Heat the ghee in a non stick pan and fry the chopped nuts and take out and keep aside.

Put in raisins and mix once immediately and take out and then keep aside.

In the same pan  add in jaggery powder and  stir constantly on low flame till jaggery nicely melts.

When the jaggery nicely gets combined with ghee , add the maida and mix nicely till golden brown  or nicely roasted.

Add the Rawa paste now and  sauté on low flame  by stirring constantly.

When the halwa starts to leave the sides of the pan , add in cardamom powder  and fried nuts and raisins and give a nice mix.

Rawa Jaggery Halwa is ready to offer to the God.

Garnish the Semolina Jaggery Halwa with fried nuts.

Tips :-

  • Do not use fine rawa or chiroti rawa.
  • You can use the milk with out boiling also.
  • You may use milk completely with out water.
  • You may use the sugar instead of jaggery , in that case you have to properly caramalise the sugar properly.
