Raw Mango Gijju is a very special and simple side dish or gojju recipe recipe prepared traditionally in rural parts of Karnataka. This Raw Mango gojju or curry is a very healthy recipe prepared commonly during summer season. This Raw Mango Gojju tastes very yummy and very unique in taste and goes very well with steam rice or ragi balls on rural parts Karnataka.
Raw Mango Gojju is very healthy during this period as it is very rich in Vitamin C , so very good for improving your immune system. Raw Mango Gojju is prepared easily using very simple ingredients like raw mango and few masala powder binded with flavor of coriander leaves , coconut and red chilly.

Preparation time – 10 minutes

Total time – 20 minutes
Serves – 4 to 5 people
- 1 medium size raw mango cut to dices or 1 cup
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 4 guntur red chilly
- 2 tbsp dry copra or dessicated coconut
- 1/4 tsp fried gram (hurekadale )
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 to 3 tbsp jaggery
- 1 tbsp oil (1/2 + 1/2 )
- 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Few curry leaves
Heat the oil in a non stick Kadai and put in raw mango dices and stir fry for a minute or two minutes adding red chilly powder , coriander powder and turmeric powder .
Then add 3/4 cup of water and give a nice mix and cook in cooker till 2 whistles or on stove top it mango becomes soft.
Allow the cooker to cool down and in the mean time prepare the masala paste
Grind red chilly , coriander leaves , fried gram and copra to fine paste adding water.
Mix the bolled raw mango with the masala paste prepared and boil again addin the water according your wish .
When the raw mango gojju starts to boil , add in sufficient salt and jaggery as per the sourness of the mango and cook on low flame closing lid for two minutes.
Mean while prepare the tempering for the Raw Mango Gojju.
Heat the remaining oil in a small wok and allow the cuminseeds and mustard seeds to splutter along with curry leaves.
Serve the tasty and healthy Raw Mango Gojju topped with tempering.
- You may use any type of raw a mango or thothapori mango
- You may store this gojju in fridge for four to five days if nicely roasted.
- You may use fresh coconut in this gojju if you do not wish to store the gojju.
- You may serve this with roti or chapathi.
