Remember to add little milk at a time , if you add a lot of milk at a time.

You can risk that the batter becomes thin.

If the batter is thin , you need to add little more maida to get right consistency.

We can always add little extra water but it is not good to add extra flour.

Try to keep the batter thicker than you need.

If you think it is too thick add water little at a time to get right consistency.

Cover the batter and let it rest for about  2 hours.

After 2 hours , take the lid off, look at the batter it may be thicker than we need.

Add a little warm milk to loosen it up.

If the batter is too thick , it will not rise well .

Try making few snacks in the bowl before you start frying in the oil.

Take a flat kadai or pan and add the oil, heat the oil on medium to high flame.

Take a water bottle and make a funnel out of it or purchase the small cup like container that is shown in the photo.

Fill the batter in the funnel or else you can also make this snack with your hands.

But you need a bit experience to do it with hands.

It is much easier to use funnel or that container. Check the oil if it is hot, the oil is smoking.

So lets get started, you need to move your hands slowly.

If you panic , while adding the batter in the oil , then you have chances of burning yourself.

Also the snack will not be evenly thick, therefore do it slowly.

The bangles are hollow inside , you need to fry it about a minute on each side.

When it turns a bit brown on one side , flip it and fry other side also.

You can repeat in the same to fry all bangles.

Add one at a time, press the joint with the skewers to adjust the shape .you can look at the colour and take out when it is golden brown.

Then place it on the paper towel to take out the excess oil to

Serve the Crispy Semolina Bangles with green coconut chutney.

  • You may use piping bag instead of funnel.
  • 1 cup equals 250 ml.
  • You may serve hot or even after it gets cooled.
  • If the chiroti rawa is not available, then crush the upma rawa slightly in mixer and then use it.
